It was raining today so I didn't bother. I will wait for it to brighten up before I head out to 5 minutes of walking up the road.

nipper did loads of sets with vertigo and dj welly around the northwest like bowlers, carlos, angels, wigan pier etc...nipper more on a piano house tip and vertigo & welly doing prog house/sasha type sets.
for me welly is better than nipper at mixing and scratching but to be honest there is not much between them. maybe welly would play the more underground tunes so he gets my number one.

not that many nipper sets about but the ones you do pick up are gold, rare tuna set being his best.

    give welly a try...

The only moggy set I have is that one he did on the Sunset 102 station. I've uploaded here somewhere. Cracking set that as well, although it is very short.

I had never heard of Nipper (being a Southerner) until about 2001 / 2002 when I was at a party and a friend of mine who is from Stockton put on a CD as she thought I might like it. I'm pretty certain it was the Wigan Pier set - I was amazed.

Since then have been trying to build up my set collection and am slowly managing to add to it over time.

I just love his sets. There aren't many DJ's left I would like to see live but he is definitely one of them.

I don't think we'll ever get the chance to hear Nipper live again and if we did the fact it's not 1992 any more means t wont quite be what we hoped or expected.

Back when we had PO I started a thread about Nipper and basically sang his praises from on high because ateotd he is a one off ledge. He read it, joined and PM'd me to thank me for my comments! So not only a top DJ with a talent for ALL aspects of mixing and set building but a top bloke as well.

You could be the best DJ in the world but if you're not a nice guy then you can fuck off in my book. Nipper truly has it all.

I have to tip my cap to Stu Allan here too, he was the same in terms of as a person and also one of my all timers.
