    Hardcore or Jungle?

Can't do a poll so just an answer will do.

I know a lot of people will be into both, but if you had to choose one, what would it be?

I know a few people that will not reply with Jungle. Jay, Sy, Thrash

Me - I've always been hardcore until recently. I've never given jungle a chance but I've found myself loving it now. Hardcore is still my first love, though [music]

    Gotta be the Hardcore.

I love listening to Jungle but never really enjoyed raving to it. If iwas gonna go out to a revival night it'd have to be the tunes that got me raving in the first place - '91-92 h/c.

Not sure why u can't, so made it for you.

Hardcore for me - no contest really.
There are some jungle tunes I quite like, but even the best jungle tune for me wouldn't beat a good hardcore one.

Both! But only early 90's hardcore, it all went a bit too stompers & cheesey for me from 94. I loves my drum breaks too much

    Re: Hardcore or Jungle?

As you may have gathered by my..ahem..mix posted in the showcase your talent thread, I'm starting to like the 93-94 jungle tracks(19.5htz being the perfick example).
But for me hardcore will always be my favourite.

Just a quick question though, wheres the house choice? Everybody should know that I love the oldskool house music!!!

    Re: Hardcore or Jungle?

    I naturally voted for Jungle

I do like Thrash's statement that he prefers melodies to Hi-Hats, there's no arguing with that

After I found my feet a bit on this forum and realised that I didn't know about hardcore as much as I thought I did, the likes of Thrash, Curly, Haze & Rog got me into the hardcore sound, and I had a bloody good go at it but I just find it too damn amateurish x_x

I'm sorry if this offends people but I love the rolling amen sound with sub bass and deep (& moody) pads, and I'm sticking to it I could go on about rubbish production techniques, but I think that it comes down to a technological improvement with time, so it's not really hardcore's fault
I will say however that I have heard some truly awful hardcore records that make me laugh that someone was willing to spend money to get them onto wax! Even Jimmy who runs Oldskool Daze in Brum says that for every 10 hardcore vinyl that he gets in, only one track is decent and the others are rubbish.

I'll also put this to you:

At an event, a hardcore anthem set is dropped, aswell as a jungle anthem set. I know for a fact which set will get a bigger response

    Gordon Edge - Compnded anyone?

Right, I'm hardcore-bashing now, which goes against the grain and vibe of this site, but let's not forget that Jungle is oldskool too

If any of you lot have been a bit scared but curious of a bit of heaviness, you're more than welcome to take a trip to the VIP section and see what makes me tick. Shit me, I'll even upload any tunes you request as I've nicely uploaded a notepad file of all my tunes

I do think I'm quite cool though as I'm one of those rare breeds that know and appreciate hardcore, jungle, drum & bass, trance and a little bit of techno - a bit of a broader spectrum, if you know what I mean?

As for the Techno, I still owe many thanks to Thrash for getting me into that sound that I missed out on originally. Just glad that I physically got to shake his hand for it [imgay]

    Donk anyone?

Acid house.... it's 1988 in my little frazzled brain at the mo, which is why I haven't posted much on here recently.

But jungle's a big no-no for me so I voted hardcore (91-92 only though)

    HARDCORE

Love my jungle as well (old and new), but Hardcore is my first love! Can't beat a good stab pattern/ rough breaks/ sped up rap vocals etc

hold on a mo... i never said i don't like jungle! i don't like LTJ Fukem and the chinstrokers scene.

obviously i voted hardcore, it is more melodic, uplifting, love the rap samples and breakbeats but not to the point where they dominate the track. gunshot jungle is farkin horrible though, along with the ragga style it can all shit off for me.

I would have 100% have said this a year ago but I'm currently torn - after some debate with Renegade Genius in PM, a few uploads by Puffa and my current interest in the Serial Killaz remixes plus a wicked set by Cautious Jungledon the other night, I do find that the ragga-jungle is more heavier, which is what I prefer; as long as the vocals don't distract from the main tune and it's combined elements, I'm really feeling it at moment [music]

I can't have this on in the car though - I look a twat enough already as it is without the image of some pasty fat dude with the roof down on his hairdresser's car blasting out black lyrics in a supposed posh area

Think you're confusing old skool hardcore with that 95ish happy hardcore style - that's boing boing.

what a wicked thread interestin seein what people's opinions are.i think its a real difficult one this,i love hardcore, always have, but ive always been into jungle too.i may have to sit on the fence with this one.
to be honest,my fave era/sound was 93ish when it was neither hardcore or jungle,a sort of mix of both.( check out dj phantasy's set from helter skelter dec 93. ) my best tune of all time is ramos and supreme 'the journey', wicked breakbeat/jungle with a perfect uplifting piano melody.the best of both worlds. Interesting that mate - I absolutely love both versions of that tune and constantly change their hard drive location weekly to my Hardcore/Jungle/Happy Hardcore folders... I'm confused

The pianos are happy, the synths dark (albeit yoinked from Rambo!) and the beat hardcore

Anyone know anybody from Sunset Regime so they can classify the tune???
