    HCB's

Now, I know very little about Hardcore Breaks, partly down to my ignorance and tunnel vision (Oldskool only).

I've just come across a couple of tunes that are as near as damned Oldskool sounding as they get.

Anyone know anything about this site?

    Dragon Technicals Records

Puffa, RG, Gaffer, Cpt Greyskull etc will prob's know all about this but like I say I'm pretty clueless.

Hardcore Breaks is pretty decent but not enough good tracks are being released now.

    Nu-Rave.com

Is the best site for all things hardcore breaks, rave breaks, j-tek, future jungle...

Defo not into J-Tek or Rave breaks Puffa, but I do like what I hear on some HCB's. Really need educating though cos I'm been stuck in my oldskool bubble for far too long and ignoring basically everything else. With the digital era in full swing, there's gotta be good music out there!

I've just parted with a fiver to Paranoid recordings, big ups RG

Just emailed you the DL link
(And no posting it up on here )

We try to put out a fair amount of 'old skool' sounding tunes on our cds. We've got about 5 new things on the go at the mo:

Vol 6 (more of the same sort of thing as the other volumes).
Vol 7 (again, just started getting a few bits sorted for this - will be along the same lines as the last lot).
Jungle Album - this will be out fairly shortly (A lot of ragga style mainly - 160bpm+)
    Artist Vs Artist album.
Another DL Album (Bat Beat Vs Paranoid Vol 2).

These will be spread out over the following year - probably a couple of months apart so we have time to breathe

As for other stuff - think Puffa's mentioned most stuff.

The Free DL albums are here (as well as other stuff to grab):

    http://www.hardcorelives.co.uk/board...6&action=dldir

Pete's HL label has a fair few cds on it - these generally speaking sound a bit newer with an old skool twist on the tracks.

Dragon Technicals had a few record releases - nice old skool style stuff.
Repeat Offender Records (still going) I think are up to their 14th or 15th vinyl release - rave / piano style old skool.
My youtube channel has loads of 'minimixes' showing off a lot of hcb tunes - some were unreleased, but a lot of them have come out in one form or another.
    renegadegenius's Channel - YouTube

There used to be a lot of vinyl back in the early 2000s - must have around 50 hcb vinyl !
Most were very limited - between 150-300 copies. And I'd say most of the earlier ones would have sold out & some now can fetch as much as some rare old skool stuff (£30-50!).

Fantastic RG! Thanks for the input mate. Really surprised at what the vinyl can fetch, saying that, I'm guessing it's classed as Oldskool Nuskool in a sense if it's nigh on 10/12 years old!

I will defo get on the Repeat Offender stuff as that sounds right up my street!

Also, thanks for the Email......I would never post a link up knowing that it's still for sale

Aslo RG.. i couldnt have put your post better!!

what i will say is most of the oldskool sounding hcb is past now.... just a few bits cummin out and they mainly on pr and hcl.

you missed the whole hcb scene curly -- that was soooo 2004-2007

as said. still bits cummin out..

people seem to be trying to make a split - 1993/94 style if ya get me by making ya choose a genre insted of doin wot dnb did and keep it all under 1 roof.... hence probs why dnb is STILL goin strong and every other genra has died a death

sall good.............. just dont tag it innit

you will find though most of the new stuff is newer sounds with an oldskool twist as RG said..... not realy what your asking for.... your over 5 years too late lolol

Dragon Technicals Records is a german label which brought out a few hcbs records - 4 releases if my memory serves me right.

The site itself has been up for a few years and they had mixes to download mainly oldskool and they did go on online radio stations as special guests - one of the main players is Systec

I'd recommend checking out Basement Record's re-incarnation. I also rated Mulder and his CueBurn label.

Puffa made a good tune once... Despite being a shouty fat knacker!

Is the Cut & Run label classed as HCB or some other stupidly named genre I've never heard of?

I'd class that as Breaks or Rave Breakz.

You see, far too complicated for me!

It's like the latter part of 1993 all over again... I preferred the days when it was all just hardcore breaks...

    lol... Already got it Ken!

So basically, if a tune is a breaks remix of an oldskool tune then it's classed as 'rave breaks' whereas if it's made from scratch using old skool samples & noises etc then it's HCB?

If I'm honest, I think I prefer the rave breaks....

I do like the type of stuff JMT makes though, that lads got his finger on the pulse. Some of the stuff you chesneys on here have made is also quite good but I couldn't possibly say who....

Rave breakz (imo) has shit beats made up of a few hits in a 'boom tish' style.
HCB mainly uses proper breakbeats - sometimes as is, sometimes chopped up.
Breaks is usually a bit slower (around the 130-140 mark) using mainly drum hits with maybe an underlying breakbeat, but using sounds that aren't really old skool sounding.

So in essence, HCB is generally speaking new old skool to mix up with your old tunes (or that was the original idea anyway).
The others are made to sound more modern / different.

    Oooooohhhhhhhh No it's Noooooot!!

You can't really compare this (Which is classed as Breaks) :

CUT AND RUN - AMEN - YouTube

To something like this (HCB) :

Simon Harris - Medley (Yell-O-Phase Messed It All Up!!) - YouTube

So don't give me that 'It's all the same' because as far as I'm concerned, it isn't

And don't get me started on that 'Future' stuff - I'll agree with you & Stu on that

What are they gonna call that in a few years?? Old Skool Nu-Future Gibble-Core?!

the same way as i can say this...

    http://www.discogs.com/Sonz-Of-A-Loo.../release/32993

    and this..

    http://www.discogs.com/Temple-Of-Lif...release/341468

    ARE HARDCORE

    end of man....

and we both know where the trem 'rave breaks' came from
