Most sets that were recorded live on DAT, so maybe the person forgot to press record on occasions

I prefer to have the full set on tape - i hated it when they used to put the ending of the last set and the DJ you want to listen to on after it

thats like the 4 pack ive got of the last live recordings from the pleasuredome at the zoo fantasy island, has to be one of the shittest packs ive heard, amazingly the mark eg set is absolute wank his mixing is so bad its unreal, either he was smashed (as he always was) or there were major faults with the decks ect. The clarkee set sounds like its bits cut and put togeather,, its an awfull pack thank fuck the billy bunter & rush tape is class

CD's only being 80 mins long & missing ten minutes from some of the old 90 min sets, that's annoying.

The packs were always a rip-off and the promoters had a good scam.

It was basically a DAT left on all night and someone either forgot to record anything at all or then blame someone else for the responsibility. After the event, packs were more or less cobbled together - you should be thankful someone made the effort to actually get even the DJs right!

Think dogg may know some more about this, but I've spoke to a couple of promoters and although they wanted decent DATs of the night and tried to make it priority, the end result was usually toss with some quick editing and a high price for original cassette 'exclusive' recordings

Unfortunately they weren't produced with a load of train spotters in mind wanting everything catalogued properly 20 years later on a virtual database that didn't exist at the time...

Shame.... But true! I heard the Producer/Tanith set at Universe MBS sold over 12,000 copies which is quite a considerable amount of wedge at £6 a pop!

People like Obsession, Fantazia, Dreamscape etc must have coined it in.

The biggest tragedy is Universe Tribal Gathering in '93 only had half an hour of each set released?

I ended up paying Fantazia for a load of CD's from their events and I was quite surprised at the quality of the CD's. They Featured a lot of stuff not on the tapes and the quality was excellent. I've put them all on here.

I think a lot of the links will be dead now msprim as they are Rapidshare and I don't have a premium account anymore (it ran out about 2 weeks ago and I have bothered renewing) but if you want anything let me know and I will re-up on medifire for you

There are a couple of tapes but I found the CD's to be much better and 99% of my up's are from the CD's...it cost me about £300 for the pleasure

Yes, very good, although I ordered a huge amount in one go and they ended up sending a few doubles, I got in touch and they sent the right ones straight away....I kept the doubles as they didn't ask for them back

The CD's from Fantazia do seem to be better quality than a rip even from an original tape. No idea how they managed it as they certainly don't know the sets from their own events very well? My main gripe with them is selling CD's as 'unreleased' when they contain about 30 mins of music on an 80 minute CD.

    ****s!

In my defence I did state in the email to them that they had sent me doubles, but they just said sorry about it and said they would send out the right ones, so they never even asked for them back

I think they were recorded from the DAT masters, same with the tapes but they had to cut a set to fit it on the tape? 30 minutes each side, that's all the tapes were, they weren't 90 minute tapes, so the CD's would get the full set on as most DJ's would play a 60 to 90 minute set.

I would but what would be the point? I could always Rip in WAV but the files would be huge, especially a full 80 minutes on a CD. a 320 Rip could be an idea though???

I can look though them and see which ones are doubles and let you know.

How come they have the MC'ing recorded if it's from DAT?

I don't think that is a mystery, the Mixer would be connected to the DAT, the MIC would be connected to the mixer meaning everything going through the mixer would be recorded?? I'm not sure. But saying that, don't they also have the No MC versions of some of their events??? I'm not sure how that one really works either.

They still aren't sufficient quality to really bother ripping at 320kbps.... 192 sounds just as good.
