    Question MOS To Close?

In 2011, Ministry of Sound fought and won the battle to Save Our Club.
In 2012, we need your help again to win the war...
London Mayor Boris Johnson is about to grant planning permission for luxury flats opposite Ministry of Sound. If built, these will force our iconic 20 year old club to close, with the loss of hundreds of jobs.
Last year, some of the world’s biggest DJs and musicians, as well as over 26,000 people, joined our campaign to let Southwark Council know that these plans would destroy a global institution. We were delighted and thought our future was secured when Southwark Council’s Planning Committee voted overwhelmingly to reject the plans.
Now the developer has convinced Boris Johnson to “call in” the application and hopes to overturn this democratic decision.
Don’t let Boris shut us down
2012 is the year of the London Elections. This year above all the Mayor has reason to listen to Londoners. Together we can show Boris that this city will not be the same without Ministry of Sound and there are major flaws with this development.

15 years since I last went... wasn't long after they'd stuck the Playstation room in there.

Can't say I'm fussed if it shuts tbh...

I can see the future - the flats are built, nimbys buy them and then complain about the noise that is coming from the MOS and force it to put up with some silly noise limit from the local council or close! This is wrong if the flats were built and the people who bought them moved in knowing there is a nightclub there then surely that is their problem?

Despite the commercial route that the MOS has taken with the whiole brand in the last decade or so would you really want to see what is an iconic club close because some flats were built and some nimbys moved into them?

Yes because that's just what we need instead of clubs, luxury flats for the rich.

I'm certainly not a fan of what MOS are doing now and what they are putting out there in terms of the crap albums and exercise DVD's but MOS is an iconic club, a legendary club, everyone knows it. I have no interest in going but I'd rather it stay there than shut down to let a bunch of toffs have a quiet nights sleep.

I went to MOS in Bangkok, amazing place and I had a cracking night. The name of course will live on regardless, but the club was the heart of the name, where it all began and for that to go would be a real shame in my opinion, crap or not.

why am i laughing i hear you say..........

in 2003 i was an assistant site manager for the construction / conversion of a wharehouse in Bermonsey Street SE1 (yep...1 min walk from SE1 Club) into 'luxury' flats.

Even though that part of SE1 was being built up and 'the rich' were buying property there.... it was still a slum and there were big problems selling the flats and ended up most of them went to housing association.

Now the part of SW that mos is in is a PROPA DIVE!!!

NO WAY the 'rich' are gonna be buying to live there

BUT... no way ANYONE is gonna be happy living next door to a major club, not cos of the music..... but cos of the noise from the punters outside.

London NEEDS more housing... thats a fact.... so if it goes, it goes .. im quite sure MOS have the money to buy another club somewhere else

I don't really care about any of that, it was a wasted effort typing it. Moving a club to a different part of the city and sticking a name on it is not the same as having the club in it's original place.

I'm sure London does need more housing, just like other places....how about knocking down Buckingham Palace to build more houses and flats? it's a big area and only 1 family lives in it and not all the time, greedy gets, if you knock it down you could easily build a mass of houses and flats. Move the palace to another part of the city. Sure you might get less tourists going there, but a simple plaque saying "Buckingham Palace woz ere" stuck to a wall will get enough tourists flocking for photos and what not.

Why not? eye sores and who needs to be reminded that the tower of London is where people went to be tortured and killed, waste of space, space we need for Luxury housing. The Meuseum can stay though, education is important.

Exactly, so we stick all that History in the Museum, get rid of the Tower Of London and put it in a field somewhere with Buckingham Palace, use the land mass now free to build Luxury apartments, stick a couple of McDonalds there for the kids and a couple of Coffee shops for the yuppies, perhaps a Waitrose, problem sorted.

You are aware that putting it in a field is total waste of resources....theres a bridge attatched to it. Much better off being used as a Disney style service station somewhere on the M25
