Mr. C loses it at DJ's

One of the earliest champions of tech house has lost his cool at DJ's on Facebook, calling them "insecure fucking idiots that got bullied". He also ranted that it was their "job to help people to celebrate life, nothing more, so get a fucking grip".

Mr. C is no doubt prepping for his big upcoming set at BPM over New Year's Eve but the artist still finds time to update his Facebook fans on his thoughts almost daily. Here's his rant in full:
"Why is that so many DJ's think they're so special with all their demands? The Mercedes isn't good enough, where's the Rolls Royce? This 5 star hotel isn't good enough, where's the 6 star? How dare you give me Kettle One Vodka, where's the Beluga? I'll tell you why, it's because they're insecure fucking idiots that got bullied, had their pencil cases and dinner tickets stolen from them at school, it's because it's all about power & attention, it's because their ego's are out of control. To all you DJ's that think you're the mutts nuts, fuck you, you play obvious shit, you have no class and you suck dick! It's your job to be nice to people & to help people to celebrate life, nothing more, so get a fucking grip!" It's certainly a change of tone from Mr. C's usual Facebook updates which consist mostly of tips on meditation and yoga. This helpful pearl is standard Mr. C: "Pause your thought and concentrate on nothingness bringing stillness of mind. In this space you will open a direct link to the creative intelligence of the Universe filling yourself with light enough to share and creative ideas will surely follow. Believe in your Self, it is the only way. Om".

he has a point, a lot of dj's have an over inflated ego and sense of self importance.

saying that, Mr C is a shit dj and an ice cream van owner in nuneaton.

(or maybe he has a franchaise programme and has them nationally)

First tune I think of to do with the Shamen is Hyperreal
And then there's Bossdrum, Move Any Mountain, LSI, Omega Amigo.

The E's are good tune is right at the bottom of that list for me.

If you've not heard the others, give them a try - especially Hyperreal & Omega Amigo.

    i have them all fella.....

but my comment was aimed at prettyy much the rest of the world that think the shamen only ever made eberneezagood. cas as stated...... its the only 'known' thing they did (though move any mountain was on a few cds in the early 90s).......

i mentioned about mr. c to a few mates of mine that i used to go raving with in 91/2 this afternoon in the pub...... and as i thought, their response was ... "WHO?.... ohhh yeah them eberneeza good lot"

pretty much sums up what i was saying.

    again though..................

fair play to what mr. c is saying and i agree with alot of it.............. but again..... who is he?

see wot im sayin?.... may aswell be me ranting about it.... again

I've taken the time to listen to some of Mr C's mixes from bitd and I can say the man is a boss dj, whether he's as good now I don't know, but I do know he was a dj before he was a pop star, he used to play a lot of the big raves back in 87/88/89. very good dj and he used to do his own mc'ing which admittedly was a bit lame but you can see where his singing style came from.

WAS A BOSS DJ. AND QUITE WELL KNOWN.............. NO-ONE IS SAYING OTHERWISE.

BUT AGAIN... ASK ANY1 THAT WERNT PART OF THE LATE 80S / EARLY 90S... AND EVEN MOST THAT WERE. AND THEY WONT HAVE A CLUE WHO HE IS....

SO HIS RANT HOLDS NO REAL HIT.

IF COX / RANDAL / VIBES / ANDY.C / LIAM HOWLETT HAD RANTED ABOUT IT. IT WOULD HOLD ALOT MORE CRED.... AGREED?

yeah, I see what your saying there, I'm pretty sure he's still an active dj but not in the mainstream, more underground, but anyway he is right what he says but is probably talking about the"superstar" dj's like guetta and tiesto, and he is right dj's are generally wankers.

even though The Shaman became a pop-Rave act; their earlier stuff like Move Any Mountain etc was quite popular with the Indie crowds and studenty types so they were a bit across the board compared to later acts that were either strictly Dance/Rave. Oddly enough The Prodigy sort of did this in reverse...were a mainstream(ish) Rave act that became more grungy/Rock orientated over time.........

Puffa's right....Mr. C would mean nothing to "kids" of today brought up on the "superstar" DJ-types like Tiesto and errrrr.....the other ones. The whole scene has changed dramatically and the attitudes are much more obsessed with the whole thing as a commercial enterprise than anything else....I'm sure that all DJs (from the dawn of time to now..) who hit the circuit are out to make some money - let's not be naive; we all need to make a living - but there was certainly a lack of huge mainstream attention and appeal, even when Rave was dominating the charts in 91/92.....there were compilations, yes...but nothing to the magnitude of what there is now and has been over the last 10 years.

Like any other form of musical genre, big money men and their companies see what's popular with the masses and jump on the bandwagon to make a mint...think Pete Waterman, prime example (I think Stock, Aitken and Waterman signed Opus 3??). Nowadays I'm sure young mobs growing up with a very dubious form of any Dance music would have no idea who the Mr C's are of the scene.........

Might as well call him Mr.Bean....has bean?!

Seriously...in a poll, who would be the top ten DJs in the world?! I honestly couldn't tell you.....who are the best "Hardcore" DJs on the circuit today?! I wouldn't have a scooby........Times have changed and the DJs now command premium prices and have "superstar" (aka elitist scumbag) status.......I'm amazed Simon Cowell doesn't have a agency for DJs.....or...........surely not?!

I think Mr C deserves a bit more respect TBH...

Moving away from his work with The Shamen he was the co owner of The End nightclub all the time that it was open, and TBH it was one of the best clubs in London if not the best.

He DJ's all over the world still and he does not play old school rave.

When I see comments such as WHO? after the mention of Tiesto and Guetta as superstar DJ's, part of me really wants to say I agree WHO? as I myself am not into their style of play, but you do have to hand it to them they have secured their positions with very clever marketing.

What about his DJ'ing career? He has been in the scene since the start and has done pirate radio, illegal warehouse parties and was one of the Acid House originals with R.I.P at Clink Street. Plus he was at the forefront of the Tech House movement and was one of the people who started The End nightclub and has done/ achieved a lot as a DJ in his own right. As well as being a prodcuer/ label owner etc. He was one of the first MC's on the scene... oh and there was his role in The Shamen. I think that rant is quite relevant coming from him as he has done/ achieved a lot more than these other DJ's who he is referring to, but has always had time for the punters and remembers who made him. I rate the guy.

I do agree with what you are saying Puffa, but I think the above comment is worth highlighting. Remember there are probably 2 types of people when it comes to music, from any time and any genres. Those that just like the music and have no interest in the people behind it or what they do in their spare time. There are also those people who are the music fans who go a little deeper, the enthusiasts, the collectors and train spotters who study the music they hear and learn about those behind the sounds they enjoy.

Hence why you knew exactly who Mr C was and some of your mates just remember a pop track from the 90's.

Now I can safely say that Guetta is crap so I won't go into that, it's the "yoof" who like him

Tiesto on the other hand won't mean anything to anyone if you were never into Trance. I don't like Tiesto any more, for me he peaked in 2002 and has gone downhill ever since then, but he has been going since the mid 90's. Again if you were never into the Trance scene then he will mean nothing to any of you, but during his peak he helped make Trance a globally liked and loved genre.

PS - This is 'The' Ebeneezer Goode mix

If anyone wants it, I've just ripped my cd copy, cleaned off the hiss (which for some reason is on the tune) & beefed it up.
