My Fave Tune Of All Time...

And it's not Oldskool, strictly speaking.....

Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up Bloody awesome!!

It reminding me of Sharon Stone in her heyday has no bearing on it at all

Seriously though, Oldskool Acid House, Hardcore, Jungle etc has nothing on this.
Branners, msprim, tomahawk and 2 others like this.

The production and meaning are awesome.

No other group/person could have made this tune and pulled it off

Worst track ever made is the Horn Track/tune, whatever.

I really do detest it Branners. I just can't express how much

In all my years, I will or would NEVER play that of any kind that's it's been released in.

    Useless tune

you're probably right...contender for the greatest modern song ever made; it would definitely figure in my all-time top 5 songs without doubt.

As for the "Horn Track" I always loved the Mickey Finn 'Foghorn' version; but can easily understand why people wouldn't like the track(s).....interestingly (or maybe not) there's been a few Asian-esque sounding tracks (Tim Taylor "Istanbul; DJ Senator & The Bagman "Asia" with that middle eastern flavour and I love everyone............) but it's horses for courses and ta-ta-ta!

Massive Attack's "Unfinished Sympathy" is the greatest track of at least the last 20 years though..........

Odd you mention the Asian thing. I love some of the foreign prayer type vocals that i've heard while sample hunting - some of it really haunting. But i'm firmly in Moonheads camp on that fookin horn, whatever track its turned up in. Atrocious noise

I went to school with a lad whose brother once shared a taxi with the uncle of a bird whose nan is related to a bloke whose mum cleans the office of the dad of them man that wrote the horn track. The lad I went to school with was a cock.

    Great tune though.

Good shout there. Konflict's Messiah and subsequent remixes all on that haunting tip, don't think you could get that kind of atmosphere with any other sample. Been my DnB dark & dirty set intro for last couple of years

As for Massive Attack - Unfinished Symphony... I hate jumping on bandwagons, but quality is quality at the end of the day. That string production never ceases to give me goosebumps

Although Unfinished Sympathy is indeed a quality tune, Angel by Massive Attack always makes the hairs stand up as for the Horn Track debate, I think it's a banging tune Curls!
As she lay there dozing next to me, one voice inside my head kept saying, "Relax... you are not the first doctor to sleep with one of his patients," but another kept reminding me, "Howard, you are a veterinarian."

Agreed. In going to the opposite of this thread in regard to Curly's dislike of The Horn Track, I remember explaining to him last year when I dropped it on Renegade that the whole tune is quality due to the following: A heavy, rolling amen that kicks in from nowhere, a bit of Techno thrown in halfway through for good measure, decent bassline and I reckon that horn is meant to be slightly annoying only as it was a unique sound to be heard at an event BITD.

For me, it's probably the heaviest tune of 1992, just a shame it was bashed a bit as an anthem by the likes of Mickey Finn, etc.

Take the horn element away, I seriously don't know how you can knock the tune.

All of the above I said close word-to-word at Curly Towers... his response?

    "It's still shit, mate"

I agree that unfinished sympathy is probably one of the best constructed dance tracks ever. Funnyily enough this track I've posted has that same goose bump effect of which unfinished sympathy does and also sung by the same vocalist shara nelson, interested to see your thoughts, although this is 2009 house it has an oldskool feel about it. http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_u...?v=W2cJpG0Wc40
