I've never been able to afford a new console, plus i dont have the room either...so i rely on a sega gamegear/gameboy these days...still got the old megadrive knockin about somewhere too i think..anyone else? What were your favourites?

Megadrive & SNES for me m8e (and 80s/early 90s coin-ops); just can't be done with all this 3D stuff. Guess I'm hopelessly oldskool

My younger bro has an obsession with all things Mega-CD, and has tried to collect every title ever released for it, despite his disapproving girlfriend

been using something called Steem (Atari STE Emulator) myself lately, runs on the PC and you can download about 1000 old ST games for it, just for a bit of nostalgia really. It's not bad, but I dunno how I used to play these games for hours and hours on end as a kid, cos they just seem shite now, lol.

In the meantime it was snes / amiga / PC / Megadrive, but this little gray console shown what it means to play.

I grew up with my beloved Commodore 64, then my sister got a Megadrive for her birthday, the bitch
I was glued to my PS1 for years, then got a PS2 & then an Xbox 360.
Got disillusioned with my 360 and fell out of love with gaming (plus I haven't got the time now) and found emulators for the Sega, SNES, PS1, C64 and most importantly MAME (which runs Neo-Geo) where I downloaded every Goddamn game available

The games back then were simple, repetitive, but a challenge.
Not some £44.99 15th sequel with 4 hours gameplay completion time and you have to pre-order it because every other bugger is gonna buy it.

Without trying to put on the rose-tinted glasses on, games were much better then, great memories from playing them and that's probably why I prefer them as I associate it with my childhood.

    Wizball anyone?

right got that blaze sega mega drive working on my Big Screen LED now
if anyone wants the right cable it's the 3m [Sony Camcorder] cable.
    available at maplins.

the other branded cables dont work as they're wired differently

Some of the games look quite good on Big screen but other look well stretched
i guess it works better at [4:3] but i use [panorama] using [16:9] [14:9] are a bet silly !

some of the games that didnt work on the portable work on the big screen
so i guess some of the roms require a different screen resolution to that of the
    built in screen.

all in all i just spent 3 hours playing and it flow by !

I love me a bit of retro gaming. Got the NES, SNES, Megadrive somewhere back in the UK. Not exactly retro but brought my Gamecube back with me recently. Eager to play Zelda on it again as that game was fucking superb!

Love the retro gaming thread and agree with all comments about using the emulators to save clutter

I started with a Spectrum 48k with the separate tape deck, what we put up with just to load one game even worse when you had to find the start on a tape with more than one. Good old Load ""

Far of games to mention but here are some of my classics

Arkanoid, Yie Ar Kung Fu, Paperboy, Football Director, Sensible Soccer, Track N Field, Out Run, APB, Shinobi, Road Blasters, California Games, Alex the Kid.

    Happy gaming!!

I had one of them, used to love playing Paper Boy & Jet Set Willy

Took fookin' ages to load a tape & more often than not it would come up with an error & you'd have to start again

    Aaaaaaah, the good ole days
