Another completely free game for you is Trackmania nations forever. Basically a racing game which you can p;lay against people all over world online and was even used at the world cyber games 2009. one of the most addictive games doing the rounds at the moment and definitely worth a go.

Used to play this a while back with a few friends. I think I used to play it through Steam. Really good game, some of the tracks are insane lol.
