    Re: F1

was up for the quali this morning, (then on here!) Will be up for the race tomorrow. I love F1 with a passion and am really looking forward to the race. The first race is always special and with the grid almost turned on it head from last year and the fact that everyone apart from Brawn look to have similar pace anything can happen. The use of KERS will be intersting to see if overtaking will be easier. Also I'm not sure about the new commentator yet, he seems to have passion like Murry had but he doesn't seem upto speed on the facts etc. But otherwise BBC have got some great coverage.

By the way Selwyn, The toyota's both got disqualified from quali due to their rear wing "deeming" to be flexible. So they will start at the back of the grid tomorrow.

Well what a race! the right result in the end although I think Kubica and Vettel should have kept their heads. Always happy to see the Ferrari's fail. I really hope Button can continue this form as I prefer him to Hamilton. A race full of thrills spills and luck for some.

    Fantastic racing.

Really nice to see Button with a smile on his face at last.

Hamilton did well to get up from last to 4th .

Shame that vettel and Kubica crashed , that was really getting good in the closing stages

Looking forward to the season now , I think if Mclaren and Ferrari had been at the front I may have switched off

Following a stewards' inquiry, Jarno Trulli has been stripped of his podium finish in the Australian Grand Prix.

The FIA officials ruled that the Toyota driver overtook Lewis Hamilton under the safety car, after losing third position to the world champion by running off the track.

Italian Trulli received a 25 second time penalty, dropping him out of the points and into 12th position. McLaren's Hamilton was promoted to third, with Sebastien Bourdais joining the points-paying positions.

In another stewards' decision, Sebastian Vettel will be demoted ten places down the Malaysian Grand Prix grid in one week, and pay a $50,000 fine to the FIA.

The German was penalised not for his late collision with Robert Kubica, but for failing to pull his damaged Red Bull to the side of the track when requested.

Can't you tell I hate ferrari!!!

I just wish the fighting was done on the track like the old days of Prost and Senna. They knew how to fight each other!

Fuck knows, I think it's something to do with the rules on what specifications they can have etc.
But if anyone can enlighten us that would be cool.

    Re: F1

Isn't it because the other teams interpreted the rules differently and so made those big diffusers on the back giving more downforce so can get round the corners quicker ??
I'm sure they were saying that the Mclaren and Ferrari just can't get the power down coming out of the corners because the car is sliding about at the back .
I'm sure when they throw the massive amounts of money they have at the problem they will soon be back up there .

I'm sure there is a much more technical answer than that , but thats how I understand it .

It won't be long in my opinion before they are in the top slots again.
Its only the second race after all , although today was a mistake by the team which is why Massa was out early on.

Basically, Some teams interpeted the rules differently and made "double" diffusers on the back of their cars. This helps the airflow along the bottom of the car and also puts more downforce on the back, giving more grip, which in turn helps turning on corners. The others only have one storey to them so they have less downforce. The Bawns are powered by the same engine that Mclaren have, so it gives some indication of just how much difference they make. Hence why the other teams don't like it. The trouble is for the other teams to copy this idea they can't just add it to their cars they have to redesign the side pods, wings, undertray and spoiler so they all work in harmony. This means windtunnel tests and lots of time and money. I just think it's sour grapes. How often have the top teams been seconds a lap faster than the rest because they designed there cars well. Now someone else has done this and they missed the trick they want it banned. F1 is all about pushing the boundries. Also brawn started on their car mid last season where as Ferrari and Mclaren were still fighting for the championship so were still improving last years car.

Great race today. Good to see another team with a maiden 1-2 victory. Although I would of loved Jensen to of made it 3 on the bounce. Looks like it's gonna be one hell of a season without Ferrari! Can't wait till next week. Game on.

BBC coverage is great, loving all the interactive stuff.

    Anyone's thoughts???
