no dangerous crashes which ruined it for me lets hope jensen catches fire in qualifying or something next week :ymsmug:

Kubica did manage to mount Trulli from behind....... If you know what I mean. That was pretty dangerous!!

    Re: F1

Classy win for Jenson again, I think the best yet. His quali lap yesterday with a second to spare was world championship class. Jenson was helped by a great stratigy change from 3 stops to 2 but it was his consistant lap times that made it work. The glaring news was Ferrari's cock ups again. First with Kimi, when he didn't go out again in quali, then Massa not having enough fuel to finish the race! They are losing it and really missing Brawn and Todt. I cannot see them getting it together anytime soon.

    Re: F1

I've read this thread a few times, but won't stay quiet any longer.

I actually prefer F1 to footie, which is like swearing around my area (big Villa & BCFC followoing), and before I had Sky+, I used to book the day off work to watch the races, and the qualifying!

I also subscribe to a wicked mag (which the drivers admit to reading) called F1 Racing, check the Beeb, ITV and official F1 website every 2 days.

I think if I was a homosexual would actually swoon over Jenson Button - actually discussing calling our first child Jenson. I've been watching him since he joined F1 in 2000, and have always been loyal to his cause. I've also always, always said, even after everyone jumped on the Lewis Hamilton bandwagon, that Jenson would come could if he had the right car. I've been saying that since 2002, and I've been proved right. When I'm especially bored, I'll type in 'Jenson Button' into Google, and just read everything I can about him... I'm even thinking about visiting the pub of his home-town in Frome which has been named after him, the Frome Flyer.

My problem is though, that although I know the ins & outs of the sport (kudos to kerls for his knowledge, but I wish to challenge for the title of this forum's "F1 Kid" :p ), I will not go to the races on principal of how costly the tickets are, so I've never even seen my hero JB in the flesh.

Due to a previous job in the entertainment industry, I've never been star-struck (okay okay, Gwyneth Paltrow had me lost for words when she shook my hand and remembered my name) by the celebrities, but I honestly think that if I met JB, I'd probably burst into tears I even have all the Honda & B.A.R. clothing (which I no longer fit into )

Anyway, here's me waffling on about my idol, let's pretend all the F1 drivers are in GP2 spec cars (i.e. all the same), top 3 who would be quickest due to raw talent???

    Mine are:

    Lewis Hamilton
    Jenson Button
    Kimi Raikkonen

not a fan of the f1, to me they are like kids. if one of them bends the rules the other team goes running to the teacher it's not a sport it's a corporate nerd fest. (-|

    Glad to find another passionate soul of F1!!!! I love button too! Was gonna name my second child Jenson in his honour but she was a girl! So that didn't happen. Hopefully we can have some good debates. My top 3 are;

Jenson Button (smooth driving the factor)
    Lewis Hamilton (Good but flawed)
Fernando Alonso (can get the most out of any car)

I think Lewis would just edge JB - you ever see that Top Gear episode where he was 0.2 seconds slower than The Stig... in the wet??? Absolute raw talent there. I think he just needs to sort his head out in a few situations, but he's only young. TBH I hate Alonso that much, I forgot about him, but I think it would be tight between him & Kimi. KR is just pure speed... when he fancies it, the bloke looks unfit this season, as does Kubica

Yes, I did see Top Gear and that was a amazing performance. he certainly has talent, It maybe just me as I have gone off Hamilton a bit recently, I don't think in his current mindset (not having a good car and the politics) he is up to scratch. I hate Alonso but you can't deny his talent. Much the same with Schuy and Senna! I hated them too, but boy were they good!! Jensen knows evry part of F1, the winning and the losing (having a bad car) and it seems to make him good whatever, much like Alonso, he can get them most out of a crap car!

I actually admired Schuey. Don't think we'll ever see anything like that in our lifetime. Everyone moaned he used to make the sport boring because he won all the time... but what's Jenson currently doing?

Did briefly consider joining the McLaren forum a season or two back... don't!!! It's just evil :ymdevil: The members go over onto the Ferrari board and spam the Bejesus out of it! You think the DnB Arena forum is bad? Keep clear of the F1 forums mate, they're more nerdy than us

Thought the race might be a little exciting today when Vettel was right up JB's gearbox for a couple of laps!

Oh well, another ten-pointer for Jenson

    Re: F1

Where do I start????? Right, at the start of the season the FIA (the F1 rule makers/government) decided that due to the recession and also Honda pulling out of F1 they would budget cap next season to 40 million per team (not including driver and some staff wages). So as to attract more teams and also to keep teams in F1. But FOTA (Formula 1 Teams Association) didn't agree that the budget cap should be dropped so quickly, as the likes of Ferrari spend 200 mill plus per season, as this would mean vast redundancies and infrastructure change in the bigger teams. they wanted a slower "step" reduction over 3 years. Also FOTA had been pissed with FIA governance of the sport over the last few years (silly rule changes and decisions) and also with the amount of money passed to teams from TV rights etc, (TV and Image rights owned by Bernie Ecclstone) This became a big sticking point with both parties. None would budge and when it came to submitting entries for next year all the Teams refused unless the budget caps were changed. Now Williams and Force India (being small low budget teams) liked the idea and decided to enter unconditionally, this got them thrown out of FOTA, but a definate place in F1 next year. So basically it's a political battle between the teams and the FIA over the rules and money. Most teams want Max Mosley to step down and let them have more say in matters that effect rules and money. The FIA want to assert their authority and neither is budging.
Now it's crunch time. The enrty date for next year has passed with no agreement. The remaining FOTA teams (Ferrari, Mclaren, Brawn, Toyota, Renualt, Red Bull and Torro Rosso) have now declared that they will not take part next year as it stands and will form there own F1 series which they can control their way. The FIA have stuck to their guns and will keep the budget cap with Williams, Force India staying in their series with new teams USF1, Brabham and Manor GP. The FIA has also issued legal proccedings against FOTA for various crap in an attempt to force them back into F1.
As I see it, the new breakaway series with all the big teams and all the big drivers will be the only one that will survive. FIA F1 will become much like GP2. With unknown and low budget teams and unknown drivers.

    Hope this helps!!

So will there be a break away league next season?

And isn't this what happened with the darts?

Yep, happened with the darts and Indy car in America (that ended in tears for both sides). But I honestly think this will be a battle of chicken. Who is gonna admit defeat first. It's a battle of power. If it does happen the FIA will lose the most and I think they will concede once they have run out of legal options. Just my opinion. But who knows? At the end of the day the fans are the fans of the teams and drivers not the FIA and they will follow the teams where ever they go. They are the people who generate the money.
