Good to see red Bull doing well and at the front
Hope Brawn get back on form in Germany (?) next week , they were blaming the tyres not heating up in the cold weather .
Proved by the speed JB went on the last stint .
Not the most exciting race though was it ?
No, it wasn't, to be fair.
Even though they'll deny it, I'm wondering if the drivers are thinking about the rumblings behind the scenes?
Wasn't exciting, but certainly makes the season more interesting, looks like it's not a one horse race with Brawn now. Bring it on.
Is it the breakaway league now official?
No, it's an empty threat - the two parties will defo come to some mutual agreement; no doubt them Ferrari eedjits will still be grumbling though :ymsmug:Originally Posted by Danril
Having looked back at the season just shy of halfway through now, it's been a disaster IMO...
Radical aerodynamic changes have done nothing for the overtaking; you can get closer to the car in front by a tenth, if that
The KERS system has been scrapped by all teams bar one - I can't even see this system being introduced onto production vehicles due to it's weight
Vettel & Button dominate it all (double/triple diffuser or not), even if it is a nice change to see someone else at the top
The races themselves are quite boring this year
The ridiculous politics (kick-started by Ferrari I might add) have spoiled the sport as well as it's name this year
I never thought I'd be this bored of F1 (-| . Roll on the footy season...
thoughts on this Kerls?
You make a very good point. The new rules have done nothing for overtaking except make the cars run closer. I was watching some Champ car the other day (1997 season) and realised how bad F1 was for close racing/overtaking. The race I saw had Paul Tracey lose it on the opening corner and end up at the back, but by the end of the race he was second! This sort of thing is very normal in Champ Car and F1 can learn at lot, Turbo's will always be better than Kers. It's simple things like that rather than Kers that will reduce costs. The politics have been interesting but maddening. The only Joy is seeing Button finally show his skills in a good car, But I think it won't be as easy for the rest of the season which looks to be alot closer. So I will be looking forward to it anyway. A sunday Arvo isn't the same without a GP to watch or even snooze through!!! But F1 would be F1 without rules. They have been around for years!Originally Posted by swipezster
Yeah, good point about the championship being a lot closer now. I seriously think that Vettel will be winning the next few races (due to the lack of heat in the various countries), but then Button will pull it back the last few races where it's well hot.
Thanks for pointing this out to me mate, a little faith has been restored.
Think it's going to be squeaky bum-time end of the season!![]()
I love F1 But the last few races have been some what a bit :ymsigh: I just dont feel the love for button that i do for lewis!( Is that just me? ) If the footy was on i would of watch that! The British Race looked dull & indeed was dull!

Renault have been banned from the next Grand Prix for "knowingly releasing Alonso into the race with a unsafe car". They apparently knew that his wheel was not on correctly but released him from the pitstop anyway. Alonso was not informed of this at the time.

They have right to appeal so we will see. Could go either way, but in the current climate of Surtee's dying from a stray wheel and the massa incident who knows?? It was the wrong time to have a wheel flying around don't you think???Originally Posted by selwyn8
Thats why i thought they did it, but rules our rules, dont know what the rules are on wheels flying off your car?

Excellent point Kerls - mind you, bear in mind it's Alonso's "home" race at Valencia next; this should not be enough for Renault to win the appeal though. I thought the Lollipop man (who is actually the chief mechanic of the pit crew) yesterday was amateurish, and will be in a few training DVDs in how to NOT run a pitstopOriginally Posted by Kerls

In light of Massa's serious injury though, and with due respect, I still howl at this:

What some people don't know is that when the Ferrari mechanics were running down the pit straight, the McLaren crew sarcastically stood outside their garage and clapped them with encouraging shouts of "Come on!"![]()
Was a very funny moment, I enjoy it when misfortune and incompetence rains in the Ferrari GarargeOriginally Posted by swipezster
The clip of the very end of last season was also funny as fook!
What, when the Massa family were celebrating before Lewis crossed the line in 5th to win the World Championship?Originally Posted by Danril

Apparently Massa is improving now but it could be the end of him as an F1 driver due to the damage to his left eye.

This is goooood news, F1 fans.
Lewis vs. Schuemy =p~
Thoughts?
Fantastic!! Can't wait for that. Not just Hamilton, but Vettel and Button in good cars. Funny how Willi Weber (Schuy's manager) said yesterday, he was 200 percent sure he would not drive in Valencia because it would be too early!!!
But bad news from the Pit is that BMW will withdraw from F1 next season. Sauber said he feared the end as he would not be able to continue the team on his own. Let's hope someone will come in and buy the team.......
Have to say that I'm more concerned about drives next year for Kubica & Heidfield - highly talented racing drivers who are severly under-rated.
However, with the addition of the teams USF1, Campos Meta & Manor F1, they'll all be looking for someone with a bit of nous and experience. USF1Team boss Peter Windsor has already stated that he wants someone with experience to partner a rookie US driver, so the future's not so bleak for the Pole & German like, say, Button & Barrichello last December when Honda pulled out.
Indeed, I think they will be fine. It will be sad to see Sauber go, been part of F1 for a long time now.Originally Posted by swipezster
I don't know about that Kerls, and here's where we might differ on opinion - I'm sick of these old racing drivers attempting to run teams on their egos and past glories rather than thinking engineers. Agreed, Sauber were around for a long time, but they were only half-decent when BMW bought them out. Look at the Prost team; almost laughable IMO, and I thing it damaged his reputation somewhat. Still, all in all, sad to see a large, established team run by a very clever man (Dr. Mario Thiessen) just disentergrate like thatOriginally Posted by Kerls

I see your point, but isn't it great when these small teams beat the big boys once in a while. Sport 's greatest achievements is when the underdog wins. You always need the small teams in F1, don't think it would be the same without them. Prost was a disaster agreed, but again it's these teams that often help find the new talent. Schumacher got his big break that way with Jordan.Originally Posted by swipezster
