    Re: F1

^^^ I don't know about this Kerls. In football yeah, it's nice when the underdog wins, but in F1, it's usually because of bad weather or a complete absolute fluke with a Safety Car situation (before they changed the rules). I think the teams are rubbish for a reason - they're rubbish
I personally dislike to see the minnows on the podium, as it undermines the sport. Although I do get a smug satisfaction that the bigger teams have messed up somewhere, and I'm genuinely pleased for the drivers at their once-in-a-lifetime achievement, the whole race seems false IMO.
Think that's admittedly a harsh opinion, but mine nonetheless

    Schumacher U-Turn

Can honestly say that I'm gutted - thought it would spark the dull (ish) season back into life

So Ferrari are going with Luca Badoer, a test driver for the last ten years? Don't know why they don't just put Alonso straight in as it's obvious he's off there next season anyway

Badoer, not competed for ten years, never won a single point in GP, Even Gene would have been the better choice since he has actually driven the new Ferrari! Just shows the failings of Ferrari, bad decisons and proof they have no rising talent waiting in the wings. At least the other teams have drivers in GP2, which are being nurchered for the future.

But gutted not to see Schuy back it would of been great.

I think 'gutted' is a popular word regarding this situation flying about on the net at the moment.

I myself loved Schumacher, yet I wonder how many 'gutted' people BITD slated him for winning everything and making the sport look "bad"

I presume you appreciated Schuey at the time Kerls? Everyone loves a villain, don't they?

I loved to hate him. He is the greatest of all time and to think he got his break with Eddie Jordan because of a misunderstanding and when he first drove a F1 car he thought it was too fast for him!!! It's his arrogance that made him so great. I appreciated him immensely bitd, he was the villain at times but you need them in F1. He took over from Senna in that respect, but I cannot see who will take the mantle in the same vein as them two.

EJ was looking for a driver for the upcoming spa GP. He was interviewing Michael on the possibility of starting and asked him if he knew Spa well. Schuy said he did, thinking he was on about the town! when EJ was meaning did he know the track well. Schuy had never done a single lap on the circuit!! He got the job an EJ was none the wiser until recently in a interview on TV between the two!!

Be interesting to know what would have happened should Schuey have admitted he actually didn't know the track

It was always on the cards seeing as it is in Spain. Got a fine instead, The stewards decisions are never consistent which doesn't help.

Thought there was like a 'master' steward who oversees all the decisions from race to race so that the end results are consistent? God, the politics are bad enough in F1 without these stupid appeals and rejections. This seasons turning out a little anti-climatic for me, just hope that Brawn start fighting back so that it's another end of season nail biter...

That is true, but as you can see the "master" steward, who I think is Charlie Whiting (Race Director) can have his decisions changed/overturned.

    Re: F1

I said that Badoer was a weak choice of replacement after Schuy pulled out but 1.5 seconds slower than the rest of the field in a Ferrari that is easily good enough for a top ten time is just poor. He was poor 10 years ago and has not improved. Even Grosjean on his first outing was only 3 tenths slower than Alonso in the same car. Ferrari really should be looking at someone who can at least compete.

    Comments?

I am very surprised by Ferrari's approach to this situation - they knew Badoer wasn't going to be quick, and to be fair, neither was Mark Gene.
To be frank, I'm totally flabbergasted by Ferrari's blundering... to be one of the biggest F1 teams ever since it's inception and to pull a howler like that is unforgivable.

    Re: F1

In addition, after yawning my way through Sunday's race at Valencia, Badoer has got to be one of the poorest drivers I have ever seen to grace an F1 grid.
I was going to compare him with some of the rubbish drivers through the ages, but he is defo by far the worst driver I have ever seen

I'm not anti-Ferrari, as I do understand how important they are to the sport, yet I took no joy in their downfall with a driver who is as bad as this; I actually feel embarrassed for them and hope they remedy this crap driver situation soon.

Jesus, how can someone be that bad yet be employed by the same company for over ten years? ?

He was leading by 6 seconds and keeping the gap when he had his last pitstop, but the crew didn't have the tyres ready so it took longer than expected. Rubens blitzed his 3 laps on lighter fuel before his pitstop and when he came out he was leading by 4 seconds.

As for Ferrari getting a replacement driver, I was just going to say that Mark Gene is the lesser of two evils, but I've just had a look at the practice times and Badoer is still driving for Ferrari

...and he's well over 2 seconds slower than his team mate Kimi

Enzo will be spinning in his grave

    Re: F1

Just thought I'd bump this one, been a fair bit of activity of late:

    * Fisichella leaves the mighty Force India to race in Massa's Ferrari seat for the rest of the season, and is happy to be their test driver thereafter. Massa is just as bad as Luca Badoer in the Ferrari at Monza, and we see the return of that clown Antonio Luizzi driving for Fisichella's empty seat for Force India

*Lotus are coming back to F1 next season as well as the doomed BMW team being bought out by some Swiss dudes. Looking at the other teams enetring the grid for next year, I think we're going to see clearly a gulf in competition (like you do between the Premier League & the Championship)

*Cotton-woll hair Briatore has left Renault, along with senior director Pat Symonds (shame, he was a great engineer) over allegations over race fixing in Singapore last year, which more or less in my eyes shows their guilt. Seriously think that they'll be greatly missed though

*Brawn and Button are back on track for the titles after a great weekend in Monza; somehow Barrichello keeps winning things when he's not throwing his toys out of the pram

*The Canadian GP is returning for 2010, which is good news

For all otherc F1 info, I swear by the BBC website
