right got ya now. sorry i got my bird bugging the shit out of me as i am reading what you wrote. look on the plus side to going private say there is two weeks to go and your one point infront of the guy in second all you have to do is match his/her team and they can't beat you going private would stop that.

on the downside i do enjoy seeing who had a cracking week and who went to shit i think it takes some of the fun out if we are all secretive ? from my point i would go public but if you want to do a vote then no worries mate if your putting cash in and want to stay private i guess you buy that choice ?

No mate, that's swayed me - I think the point C-R was trying to make which I didn't understand at first is that its-all-about-the-banter.com but I fully understand now.

As for the pot involved, we'll each be losing a tenner (cos I'm going to win it) and so far £80 is a nice prize but that did not come into the equation for me.

Like you say, bit of fun.

I was wrong, you lot are right (Jesus I've been saying that to my wife all morning )

I'm actually thinking that the last 2 weeks of the season I will make my team private, just to make it more interesting

Up to 27 managers now, the most we've ever had

It's a shame all of them aren't chucking in a tenner as there would be a very happy member at the end of the season.

Why not scale the winnings if there's a big pot? Might encourage some of the mingebags to throw the wedge in...say we end up with a £250 pot, £150 for the winner, 50 for 2nd, then 30 and 20...so you'll have 4 chances to at least double your money. Obviously there'd have to be someone trustworthy enough to deal with the money via a specially set up paypal account or whatever.

    Just a thought like.

Mate I used to be the syndicate-Don at work for 5 years; I used to organise World Cup, European Championship, Grand National, Accumulators on the PL on a Saturday afternoon, Lotto, tea club, Wimbledon, all syndicates like that. Two years ago I even did a pool where everyone picked a blank envelope with a PL team in it, paid a quid a week and the winner of the PL at the end of the season won £500.

I haven't done this for over a year now as I've found out all the work you put into it, chasing people for money, trying to get everyone involved, updating charts/standings nobody thanks you for... but the biggest thing is that people argue about the pot for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.
It's now got to the point that people are moaning at me that there isn't a syndicate on for whatever tournament is on because nobody else will take it on!

It's much easier - and trust me, I know what I'm talking about for a change - if winner takes all. As for the people who don't want to put in the pot, that's up to them, they miss out

Fair do's la, I'd much rather walk away with the lot myself. Just thought if there was more prizes more people would throw in. I know what you mean about the hassle though, when it was my turn to run the horses syndicate in work it was a fucking nightmare.

Have we sorted out this private nonsense yet? I'm keeping my team private until the competition has officially started in just over a weeks time..... After the season has started all teams should be made public in my opinion.....
