It'll depend on how far you ran and the gap between runs. You may still have had some muscle fatigue from the first run.

I've only done 5 mile this week but am planning on doing 8 tomorrow morning. I had sore feet for a few days after the Leeds Half last week.

I run between 3.5 - 4 mile each time.I have found in the past that if i dont go for say 2weeks or more the first jog back is always easier than the second. It's seems strange but like you say it must be muscle fatigue.
Have to say that i'm feeling better within myself already & thats after only 2 runs.

It's good in so many ways. It helps you release frustration or tension if you've had a bad day. It tires you so if you are having trouble sleeping it can help. It helps with the fitness, releases endorphins etc. It's just generally a really good habit to get into, a nice long term activity.

I hear that bud- Ive been jogging since 2000 on average 3 times a week, however over the last 18 months Ive not kept to this routine. Some weeks Id get to the Gym twice a week and then go for a run on Sat Morning (went out this morning and did 5 miles). My work is stressful and involves long hours and travel- I'm over and back between Ireland & UK a few times a month, -
Im 31 but still like going out at weekends( a lot!!) so its hard to find a balance.
    Any advice?

I think it's about time to lose a bit of weight. I'm not one for all this exercise stuff though and as i'm on my feet all day at work and moving around, I get quite a lot of exercise. I think all I need to do is cutting out the crap. Chocolate, crisps, fizzy drinks. I just need to get a bit of backbone and make the change.

Tis a start- I cut back on the Booze, Fires, crisps etc a couple of years ago
When you eat healthier its easier to jog/ go the Gym IMHO

Gym and Jogging in the one day- watch out for shin splints if you overdo it-

I had that once before mate but apparently the cause was football training on astroturf. It did seem to go once we stopped training on there.

Looks like I'm pretty much over my injuries now. Did my 7.5 miler tonight in the fastest time I've done it this year. Still a three minutes off my best but a good 2 mins quicker than I've managed since I did my calf.

I've been tentatively looking at joining a gym but the fees seem very expensive.

Playing squash with our kid for 50mins gets you sweating as well. It's a different kind of exercise to just running along, good for the agility etc and bursts of activity.

Re: The Keep Fit & Workout Thread

i've just recently joined a local gym. well i say I..what i mean is the wife just joined us up to a local gym

never been a fan of gyms and have always been about right weightwise for my height and age.

i do a fair amount of cycling, like malgosno, to work. the 12 mile round trip is no longer the gasping, wheezing, sweaty nightmare it was and it's a great way to start the day imo.

actually visited the gym yesterday on my lunchbreak and got a full workout in. made me feel pretty awesome all afternoon!

    lovin it at the moment...

Eat less, exercise more fella! It's the only way!

My new bike tyres arrived yesterday so I'll put them on the bike tonight if it holds off from raining. Not been for a run since last Wednesday now, so need to go for one soon so I keep in the habit. The poor weather has affected it though and with me not having another race sorted until September I've possibly lost a bit of motivation. I also keep sleeping funny and getting a crick in my neck, done it again today when I've woken up!
