    Rave Scene Movie?

It always surprises me that the UK rave scene has never really been immortalised in a movie.

Quadrophenia did it for the Mod scene.

Lots of films did it for the Rock 'n Roll scene.

But the early rave scene? Nothing.

It was slammed by the media.

    Outlawed by the politicians.

The public were made to be scared of it.

And the dance music scene of today was born by it.

With such strong feelings on both sides I'm sure a film about it would be interesting.

I'd love to know what people think.

Who knows, maybe someone reading this might be a film maker!

Human Traffic was okay in places, as you say, as near as we ever got. I can imagine someone like Danny Boyle directing it for some reason. The soundtrack would be amazing though!

I was thinking exactly the same!

Good film Human Traffic, pretty spot on regarding clubbing etc around '94-'97 I reckon, shame it wasn't set in 1992!

    Re: Rave Scene Movie?

Was thinking about this the other day after re-reading Simon Reynold's excellent 'Energy Flash' book (updated version for sale here if anyone wants a top book on rave culture and music; http://newhumanist.org.uk/1746/energy-f ... n-reynolds). There would be so much scope for spinning great yarns for a movie, as well as prividing an excellent soundtrack. Pirate radio, drug pushers, loved-up crowds, illegal warehouse parties, the MUSIC.....! Now someone's gotta do a buddy movie based around this premise.

24 Hour Party People is about Manchester scene, the movie begins in late 70s and ends in late 90s.

It's not specifically about rave, but it features the rave scene in some parts, including legenday The Haçienda.

    Amazing movie, i recommend it.
